Exhibition Jurors: Graeme Reid, Annemarie Sawkins
Graeme Reid - Born in Scotland, Graeme Reid graduated from the University of Glasgow and Indiana State University with Master’s degrees in 1990 and 1993 respectively. With nineteen years experience in arts management/curatorial work he is currently Assistant Director at the Museum of Wisconsin Art having previously worked at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center (Sheboygan, WI), the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette (IN) and the Swope Art Museum (Terre Haute, IN). Over the years he has curated over 120 group and solo exhibitions as well as worked on the development and installation of institutional collections. An experienced judge on a local, regional and national level and award winning writer on the arts, he has taught art history and the humanities at ISU and Purdue University and is a regular guest lecturer at various Wisconsin institutions.
Annemarie Sawkins - Born in England, Annemarie Sawkins graduated from McGill University with a Master’s degree and Ph.D. in 1993 and 1998 respectively. After thirteen years as a curator at the Haggerty Museum of Art at Marquette University, she is now an independent curator and art consultant working on a major exhibition for the Ackland Art Museum, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which will open in February, 2013. Notable past projects include Lucinda Devlin: The Omega Suites (2010), Louise Bourgeois: Recent Works (2007), Eve Sussman: 89 Seconds at Alcazar (2005), Honoré Daumier: Political Caricaturist of the Nineteenth Century (2003), and Man Ray on Paper (2002). Between 1997 and 1999, Sawkins worked at the Milwaukee Art Museum where she was a contributing author of A Renaissance Treasury: The Flagg Collection of European Decorative Arts and Sculpture (1999). Annemarie Sawkins often writes for exhibition catalogues and is a frequent juror, having critiqued everything from artist portfolios and craft fairs to short films.

This juried exhibition is open to all photography artists who reside in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota or Michigan, who may submit up to four entries with a $35, non-refundable entry fee. There is no fee for active/paid CoPA members; this is considered a membership benefit. Entrants must be a current paid member as of Oct 15, 2012 in order to qualify for the member submission fee waiver. New memberships after Oct 15, will not qualify for the fee waiver.
Rules - Online Submissions
Only original works of art completed by the applicant and not previously exhibited in a CoPA Midwest Juried Exhibition may be submitted.
All entries must be submitted online through the CoPA website: www.copamilwaukee.com.
Be prepared to include the following information when uploading your images:
Your name, complete address, daytime phone number, night phone number and current e-mail address. Be sure to indicate if your are a current/paid member of CoPA, or a non-member. Non-members need to make their checks payable to CoPA, (Coalition of Photographic Arts) and mail to the following address: CoPA (Coalition of Photographic Arts), P.O. Box 510464, Milwaukee WI 53202.
Please indicate on the outside of the envelope that it is for the 2012 Juried Exhibition. The fee for non-members is $35.00
You will also be asked to complete an online Artist Statement and/or Bio. This will be limited to a total of 1,000 characters (including spaces) for both – not each.
The online submissions form will also ask you for this additional information for each image submitted: title, size including matting and frame, selling price (you must clearly indicate if price is for matted and framed image or for print only). Please keep in mind that CoPA/WPCA will retain 30% of any sales generated during or from this exhibition.
All images to be uploaded must meet the following:
JPEG, 6 inches or 1800 pixels on the longest side, and at 300 dpi. Your quality should be at its highest. Please NOTE – DO NOT use a border or frame your digital images/files being submitted online.
We ask that you conform to the above so that if your image(s) are accepted, we will have the quality needed to publish the image(s) in a catalogue. Also, this size will give the Juror the quality needed to make selections for this exhibition.

Rules – Upon Acceptance
If accepted into the exhibition, two-dimensional entries must be framed and ready for hanging with hook eyes and wire. Frames, mats, and glass should be clean and presented in a professional manner. Mats should be white or off white. Saw-tooth hangers will NOT be accepted. Size requirements: Image size no larger than 40 inches wide, including the frame and mat. Exceptions to any of these hanging requirements must receive authorization from CoPA Exhibitions.

September 22 - October 21: Online submission dates. Images uploaded after midnight on October 21 will not be accepted.
October 25 - November 4: Images will be in the hands of the Jurors.
November 5-6 : Jurors to notify CoPA Exhibition Chair of selections.
November 9: Notification to accepted artists emailed and posted to www.copamilwaukee.com.
November 27 (Tuesday) – December 3 (Saturday) : 12 PM - 5 PM, or by appointment: WPCA receives images.
No work will be accepted after December 3
December 5 : Exhibitions hangs show.
December 6: Exhibition tweaking and media
December 7: Exhibition opens- Opening reception at WPCA, 5 PM. - 9 PM. Includes Gallery talk by juror/jurors (subject to confirmation) and presentation of Awards
