On Saturday, October 1, from 5 to 7 p.m., CoPA Board Member Coree Coppinger will lead Milwaukee photographers in the 4th Annual Scott Kelby Worldwide Photo Walk.
Last year, there were 1100 Photo Walks in different cities and over 33,000 people who participated around the world in this international photo event. Basically, the site describes the Walk as a social photography event where photographers get together (usually in a downtown area or trendy section of town) to walk around, shoot photos, and generally have fun with other photographers. Photographs taken during the two-hour walk may be submitted to compete for the Grand Prize or become one of the 10 honored finalists.
Coppinger started leading the walk here in Milwaukee for two related reasons: a. she did not want to drive to Chicago to participate in the walk there and b. she shared her opinion with the organizers that "we had better photographers than Chicago." So, she agreed to lead the local walk and judge photographs taken here.
The first year Milwaukee came in 6th place, the second year we did not place at all, and the third year a local photographer came in 3rd place. Milwaukee is the only city in the world to have placed twice among the contest finalists during its three-year run.
