CoPA member Colleen Gunderson's photograph “Essential Elements” was chosen for Visions XIV, a juried exhibition at the Riverfront Arts Center in Stevens Point.
On display through July 29, Visions XIV features new works by 65 local and regional artists that demonstrate “an artist’s vision and the well-established skills to convey that vision”. This multimedia exhibition represents of a variety of creative expression, including ceramics, jewelry, mixed media, photography, watercolor, and more. Juror Diana Black, a professor of art and design at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, states “Each of the works juried into the show manifest characteristics of excellence. Beyond demonstrating a facility for handling materials, the artists' works all express exceptional qualities compositionally and conceptually”.
Gunderson's piece “Essential Elements” showcases the violin used by her daughter, a first-year violin student. "My daughter is not the first student to use this violin. I wanted to use photography to highlight this special guest in our home" says Gunderson about her photograph. This image was also featured in CoPA’s 2012 Members’ Exhibition. Gunderson donates twenty percent of the proceeds from sales of “Essential Elements”, to school music programs.
