6:30 p.m. | Location: The Marion Center for Nonprofits (Community Room) 3195 South Superior Street, Milwaukee, WI 53207
The winner of the 2011 Artist Incentive Award, Erik Ljung, will speak to us about how the award helped further his photography projects.
We are also pleased to announce that we will have as our guest one of this year's Fotofest portfolio reviewers, Hava Gurevich, Director of the photography traveling exhibit agency ART2ART. Hava is the Director of one of only three photography exhibit touring agencies in the US.
Many museums exhibits have been formed by one of these three agencies that do the organizing and promotion of the work to circulate them through museums in the US and Canada. The most fluid way to get that going is if the artist gains the interest of one of these agencies when their level of work and presentation has developed to a level that warrants national circulation . For all of us in CoPA the idea of our work touring museums small or large is an inspiring goal.
Hava will make a short presentation on what criteria a traveling exhibit agency uses to determine what photography projects they wish to organize and promote for travel through museums. She will be available to answer questions afterward.
You can get a better idea of the types of exhibits ART2ART distributes at Hava's company web site art2art.org. There you can see that they distribute exhibits of major name historical photographers as well as mid career contemporary artists.
Of course the other thing that Hava represents is the newer, and younger, portfolio reviewers that are becoming more common at Fotofest (the worlds largest portfolio review). If you are not that familiar with Fotofest and it's massive portfolio review, lasting three weeks and called "The Meeting Place," you can see more about that at
Bring your photos to the Schmooze! No food will be provided but you are free to bring your own. Complimentary parking available in the rear of building.
There will be no charge for this meeting, although donations are welcome and appreciated.
